week11

1. As far as I’m concerned, among these different kinds of activities, my favorite one is hand-on activity. I think I’m the” manual-typed” person. It means I prefer handwork activity to other types of activities such as reading or listening. Whenever I accomplish some works by hand, I will feel a sense of achievement. Put it in another way, I think manual work can easily trigger my imagination and motivation in order to enhance my performance.
In my opinion, the one I like the least is reading. We have already undergone the “reading” education for so many years and it always makes me think of exams. The truth is I don’t hate reading. It is the most pervasive way to gain knowledge and I’m fond of reading novel and other extra-curriculum materials. But I’m fed up with reading text books again and again, it makes me headache.

2. I have taken a course called “the development of the imagination”. Our professor will offer every group different techniques and approaches of the theories which can improve our imagination. Next, every group must follow those approaches and create a series of activities. Through playing games and making some products or performances, students can learn different techniques to strengthen our imagination.

3. Whenever encountering some difficult knowledge that I can not easily figure out, I will carefully read it first and then discuss with my classmates or partners. I think discussion is really a good way to help people overcome some difficulties whether they are academic problems or not. Through the process of discussing, we can learn many experiences and absorb novel opinions. I think that’s also the reason why the studying groups are so popular nowadays. Sharing and exchanging ideas can broaden our vision and help us fix some problems.

4. I think, obviously, I’m “kinesthetic learner”. Namely, I usually do better performance through touching things. Through “hands-on” experiences, such as making manual works or taking notes, I can learn things faster and also easier. Although I have a clear preference for one particular learning type, I still need to combine other learning forms as assistances.

1. From my opinion, the activity which I like the most in class is to have a discussion with teachers and/or classmates. I prefer the way to brainstorm and later discuss and exchange our point of views with people on certain issues. In this case, I could not only reflect my own opinions but also absorb some others' new ideas through this sharing process.
And different from your opinion, the one I dislike the most to do in class is hand-on activity.I don't like writing since that's not my strong part and it really time-consuming.When teacher distributes us some assignments and ask us to finish and turn in on the next week or some other specific days, which means we got a "deadline" from it. However, I am a bad timer who always cannot catch the day up until it's over .The "deadline" really makes me feel like almost dead and totally stressful and exhausted.

2.I have taken a course called "world drama". In that course, our classroom was in the school theater and our professor would play the DVDs on several classic dramas from different countries every week. All we students should watch and write up our reflections carefully, also we formed in groups for discussion and preparing the final presentation which was to role-play on one scene from the dramas we had learned in this semester. I enjoyed the class very much because it was really a great learning experience to view so many outstanding dramas in class.

3.I agree with you since I just mentioned that I do like to discuss with classmates in our class activities. And If I face some difficult knowledges, just like you I'll read the text repeatedly first and see if I can comprehend it or not. Then if I still can't get the point, I'll stop sticking to it but discuss with someone who I think has the related knowledges to my problem.

4. I don't know the specific term to describe the type of learner I am, but I think I am a learner who enhances knowledges through verbal idea-sharing and communicating. I always get my sense of achievement in school from a greatly effective group presentation in class. And it always works from a good cooperation in members according to complete arrangements from discussions. But still, like you mentioned,an effective learning should consist of multiple learning forms to achieve in a better process.
